Classic Movie Collection: The 3Ds

Image
Mara's Classic Movie Collection. Take one 🎬 In Anywood, there are good movies. Then, there are bad movies. Finally, there are movies you just have to watch in a life time! On this first edition of Mara's Classic Movie Collection, we have Deadpool, Deadpool & Wolverine and Dead Poet's Society in the spotlight. Ready to find out if they're worth the hype from my eyes? DEADPOOL This was a recommendation by Gifty and I have to say... Well! I feel mature. This was the Deadpool I knew from childhood in the X-men cartoons. He didn't change; red, nonchalant in the face of death and a good swordsman. One change though, he's fouler than I remember.  I love the concept of him not trying to be a hero. That's the real personality of Deadpool as I can remember. They also kept the humour. Deadpool in the middle of a multi-car collision  wondering if he left the stove on. It was nice watching two cracked up and battered adults find a meaning out of their lives by bei...

CHOCOLATE & MILK🍫🥛 Episode 3

PERKY'S STATUS Being a first year student can be tough. That's why you need a class rep like mine! Can you imagine Mr Okafor, a GS lecturer, commended my class for having the most organized class rep he had encountered in years?! #Can your class rep ever! NARRATOR The journey so far had been rigorous, with meeting lecturers and printing class lists. Perky's status update was like a cup of cold water after hard work to Jude. She even left an appreciation remark in the group chat. "Gratitude is a sweet thing," Jude thought as he replied her gratefully. Almost immediately, rolls of messages came in. They all said one encouraging remark or another: Titi 🙃: I don't regret voting you! Linny: Keep it up, dude! Ebig 🤑: The best 001 so far!" Jude thanked them all and busied myself with plans on how to perform even better. Meanwhile, Dinah sat in her room in Eyo-ita reading. The group chat was brimming with "thank you" and "good job" all for J...

CHOCOLATE & MILK🍫🥛 Episode 2: Part 2

"Now, for the final post on the list. Who will be Lin 025's 002?" Kachi said and hushed the students. The silence was broken when Perky stepped forward. She was a tall skinny girl with big eyes that hid behind her glasses. She smiled and waved at her supporters. Her presence seemed to stop anyone else from coming out. Kachi asked the obvious question, "Anyone else?" Jude looked around and spotted a girl stand up. She was a little above average, had milky white skin and a very queenly face. Her gait was confident and her eyes glowed with youth and beauty. She was the first to deliver her speech. She said in a pitchy mezzo soprano, "Hello, everyone. My name is Idong Dinah. I am happily vying for the post of the assistant class rep, the 002 of Lin 025." Jude leaned forward on his desk. He smiled. He thought, "So this is Dinah?" She had made quite a reputation for herself in their group chat. She struck Jude as a lady of good breeding and kind di...

CHOCOLATE & MILK🍫🥛 Episode 2: Before Anonymous Night

NENE'S JOURNAL It happened so fast. One second, I was working as an apprentice in a boring stationery shop. The next, I was in my green shirt and black skirt feeling like a fish out of water. "You've got this, Nene," I said - not loudly or Sophie, my roomie, would think I was crazy. I slung my bag on my shoulders and left for my department. I didn't have much trouble finding it. Our very helpful volunteer class rep had given detailed directions. Also, the huge brick brown v-roof building was impossible to miss. "Linguistics 1st year," I read the label on the first classroom to my left and observed the sea of students all around in green and blue. "Alright, Nene. This door isn't going to go through you." I joined the students within. Most of them looked classy and confident. I mistakenly bumped into a tall beautiful girl with purple hair and nice shoes. Her shape was "shaping." I learnt her name later, Natasha. She glared at me b...

CHOCOLATE & MILK 🍫🥛 Episode 1: Anonymous Night

Image
Anonymous night is a home name among students in the University of Nigeria Nsukka. It's a night when students get to unleash their thoughts, nice or deadly, in a platform that protects their identify. It's a cherished tradition and always promises the juiciest gossips, the darkest gists and the most lethal insults. If you have haters, Anonymous night doesn't promise you a good time. Besides people getting dragged, others also get secret admirers, love texts and, rarely, encouraging texts. The outcome of one anonymous night could mean the beginning or end of a student's public image in his class. Anonymous night is a night of glee, of pain, of judgement. Jude pondered this as he clicked on the Linguistics 025 group chat and sent the message that sent ripples down everyone's spines. "Write a secret anonymous message for LIN 025 😉 We won't know who wrote it 😂❤️👉 https://gsgs.abc/lin025" The group reacted to his post and went silent. Jude smiled and we...

Success is a Cloud

🕊️🕊️🕊️ There once was a young man who dreamt of becoming a great artist. He would pick up his papers and pencils and sit under an apple tree every day looking for the hardest thing to draw that met his eyes. First, he drew a fig tree up ahead. Then he drew the river that rippled by. At last, it was a tasty ripe apple that hung lustily from a branch. "I am very good," he thought as he inspected his works. Truly, his works were masterpieces worth praising. His craftsmanship was as flawless as the shades of pencil in his drawings. One day, the young man gazed intently at his work that he grew proud. "Have I really done this?" was his continuous question. He would then finger every detail of the drawings and nod his head with pride. This grew into a habit, and instead of drawing under the apple tree, he would sit and idly admire his work. "You are not an artist at all," the apple tree rustled its leaves in disgust one bright day. "What do you mean? Loo...
