DEAR ME🎁 THE PENULTIMATE 3

Image
Mara rolled her eyes and made the sign of the cross. Worst exam yet, she fumed as she stood up and delivered her paper to the tall robust and unsmiling Mr Robert. Then she scanned the tense hall before walking down the aisle and out the door. She smiled when she saw Theodora looking out for her. She joined her and both of them embraced and whimpered. Leo soon joined them. A look in one another's eyes was enough to pass the message; the exam had been tough. "Does anyone care for ice cream?" Leo asked suddenly. Then their faces lit up and they strolled to the back of FASA hall where an icecream bicycle was standing near the popcorn box. "You're the best, Leo! Icecream is perfect for the celebration," said Theodora with a noisy sip. "It doesn't feel much like a celebration. Those questions were a perfect example of what I ordered versus what I got," Mara sighed. "Look on the bright side. We're done for the year and in a few days, we'l...

Episode 3 "Don't just pass through the school... Let the school pass through you." Nonye was writing again. This time, she was seated at the VC's quadrangle. It was one of her favourite spots. The environment was serene and the wifi was free. She wasn't the only wifi tapper. There were a couple other students seated on the grass and round the fountain. Nonye looked up at a few students in nursing uniform as they talked in hushed notes and walked down the aisle leading to Eyoita. Then she returned to her fortress of thoughts. Nonye ✍️ "Let the school pass through you..." Nonye repeated her favourite quote. It was the title of her favourite speech at her freshers' orientation two sessions ago. The lecturer, a tall cream complexioned man, had sprinkled gold dust on her memory of that day with his power packed motivational speech on the essence of leaving a legacy. Nonye's lips puckered to a smile as she remembered the dopamine feeling his words ha...

Episode 2 "Attention, 025 Jacksonites! It is with deep regret that I announce the cancellation of all possible classes. And, by the power invested in me, Chukwuralu Jordan, your class captain, I declare today... Lecture free!" Nonye rolled her eyes at the message on her screen. Why did the dude have to be so dramatic, she wondered. What pissed her off was the hundreds of reactions his proclamation always got. "What's the fuss? Fridays are always lecture free. No lecture or rumour of lecture has held or probably ever will!" Nonye fumed. "Did Jordan send you another message?" Chisom asked. Nonye looked across her to the left corner of the room where her roomie was sitting and staring at her. Nonye grimaced tightly when the consciousness of having fumed out loud discovered her. "Not just me. The entire class," Nonye grumbled and got off her bed to pull on a yellow sweater comfortably. "I thought you were over that," Chisom's baby...

Episode 1 "Every den has its shadows. Even UNN. When the sun shines and the lamps blink to life, you can't see it. But if you look close enough, you catch a glimpse of it flitting from corner to edge. It reeks of mysteries that must be explored. The Biblical question though, 'Whom shall I send?' Well, here I am." Nonye Iloh, a 300 level student of the department of mass communication smiled and flexed her shoulders as she shifted in her secluded seat at the FASA quadrangle. She stretched her neck over the stone wall of the poster color sprinkled seat and looked at the sea of students. Not one of them was wearing blue and black like she was. "Perfect," she whispered and pocketed her green pouched phone fondly in her black handbag. Then she brushed her relaxed hair back into the scrunchie and stood up. The coast was finally clear to return to her hostel. Well, it wasn't like her coursemates were going to interrupt her on her way back. Still, she didn...

DIARY OF A JACKSONITE πŸ’™πŸ–€ Peckie🌟🌟🌟

PECKIE 025 JACKSONITE πŸ’™πŸ–€✨ In a class room, you can find a lot of personalities. The cool. The intelligent. The beautiful. The famous. The charismatic and the notorious. Then there are other students who simply don't get enough attention. They just come and go. Their voices are almost never heard and their faces barely noticed. Why are they so, insignificant? "Hi," a cute and smallish caramel brown girl with lovely glasses broke my chain of thoughts unexpectedly. She smiled and I smiled back. She was one of the personalities of my class that stood in the shadows of the prominent few. Like me. "Hello," I said and tried to match her face with a list of names my course mates answered. I couldn't pick one though. "Can I sit here?" she asked kindly. "Sure," I said and let her move behind the desk and sit beside me. Then we continued our wait for the MAC 222 lecturer. As we waited, I observed my companion, out of habit. One minute, she was scr...

Maestro 025 Jacksonite; D.O.G, MACSA 2023/2024  @real_maestro (Instagram) THOUGHTS OF A MAESTRO (P.S. Not A Diary) 😌 Page 1 . Define purpose. An object to be reached? A target or goal? The reason for existence? These answers, questions in themselves, set my mind pacing. They launch me on a mission of self discovery. They seethe my adrenaline, ready for a kill. My prey is my goal, my target, my reason for existence... And I am the predator. I am not a lion though. No. My mane is fiercer. My claws dig deeper. My eyes pierce the toughest hide. I am no feline. I am the pride of the Father. I am a man of honour. I am a master of my art. I am a poet. I am... Maestro. Page 2. "What hast thou done on Earth?" My answer to this question when I was much younger was, "Nothing." Then I became the number one student in my elementary school in Lagos. It was a wonderful feeling when the peers that had looked down on me suddenly needed my consent and heeded my every comma...

DIARY OF A JACKSONITE πŸ’™πŸ–€ Nmeso✨✨✨

Nmeso 025 Jacksonite Record 1, Friday. Today, I got hit by a simple puzzle of a question, "Who are you?" Nmeso was my first response until the speaker who wanted me to engage my logical faculties asked further, "If you're asked to describe your personality, what can you say?" It's a puzzle and I hate leaving puzzles unsolved so here goes. Hi. My name is Nmesomachinyereuwa. I'm a student of Mass communication... (Pauses) Okay. That aside, if I were to describe myself, I would say I'm the beauty in "Black beauty." So, yeah. I'm a fine girl wey love Jesus. Emphasis on wey love Jesus 'cause I'm a Christian. Digging the surface, I would like to say I'm an antisocial socialist. I do love having intelligent discussions and socializing but a part of me keeps asking, what's the point when people can be so difficult? I love talking so I can't think of myself as an introvert. I also can't consider myself an extrovert either...

Mara's Classics; 1 Year and Counting πŸŒŸπŸ’™

"Pass through the school, and let the school pass through you." These were the words that started me off on a long, really long journey in my writing career. You see, I've been writing before, since I picked up a notebook as a little girl and scrawled, "Adanna the stubborn girl." Time flew by and I was already writing factious history on African colonization. Then... I got admission to study in the University of Nigeria, Nsukka. At first, I thought, this is the end of my writing career, but I was inspired by my Muse Giver to "write, write, write!" Here I am, one year later, writing. It's been a beautiful journey. It began on Feb 16, with...! TWELVE DAYS TO VALENTINE Read It was Valentine. My sis wanted us to celebrate so she dragged me (literally) to a Valentine Music Special. It was what I needed to breathe life to my Muse. Twelve Days to Valentine was inspired by the university culture which I was still new to. I loved the environment and kep...

Diary of a Jacksonite πŸ’™πŸ–€ SPENZY ♠️♠️♠️

SPENZY King_spenzy (Instagram) I kicked a random stone as I headed to Achebe Court. Only semester 2 in "The den" and I was frustrated. Had social media been lying? What about the thrill and adventure of being a freshman? Was it really a facade or am I just unlucky cos my country's being run by a Jagaban? I sighed and stopped, thinking of the huge amount my parents had given the bank for my tuition. Dang! I could have started a business with that sum. I'd have been living large already. I... "Promise, wait up!" I looked as someone brushed past me. Wait. Tall, dark, handsome, black rimmed classes with white highlights. Was that...? "Hey! Excuse me for a second," I called out as I  rushed towards him. He stopped and looked at me curiously. I smiled. Beyond a doubt, I was before the winner of the Okwuluora scholarship. "You're Spenzy, right?" He smiled. "Mehn! I'm a huge fan, bro. I'd do anything to be you," I blurted wi...
